Simply put, it is the earnings you continually receive (it could be on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis as the case may be) from an investment (it could be money or time investment in a business idea) which you have done in the past. Your earnings could be in the form of commissions, interests, rents, dividends, profits, just to name a few.

The attraction behind passive income is the idea to work once and earn forever! That is to say, you will set up the investment system in the first place, work on it for some time to consolidate it and allow it to continue to generate income or profits month in and month out. On the internet and offline, there are many ways to make passive income which you can learn about.

In this article and the subsequent ones, I will list and explain some of these business models you can start with to make money on the internet. But always remember that some passive income sources are self-sustaining once it is properly set up while others require minimal supervision and maintenance on a continual basis.
